The problem with the current Government is that they’re trying all they can to reduce debt. Which means slashing funding, ending schemes, and most controversially, cutting down on investment. It means everyone will feel the pressure, especially the lower and middle class.
Hiddenknowledge2012 was right to say that Governments are greedy, but only because not everyone can have the same wealth and level of money. It just simply wouldn’t be fair for those who have worked harder and put a higher level of effort into their careers to earn a higher wealth of living. We’re also a democratic, not a communist state, meaning whilst we do get our own choices, we cannot abuse the system and pretend we can do and have everything we want. That is why the Government exists in the first place. If the Government really was greedy, it’d raise taxes to unimaginable levels, repossess untold items, and use the army to bully their way around just to be better than their neighbouring country.
We could have ended up like Greece. The last Government’s borrowing, spending, and investing culture was clearly not working and instead of cutting down the deficit, it was actually building it up again because of the idea that if we spend now, we’ll get more on that investment further down the line; but they didn’t forecast how slow and long it’d take to recoup that money - and it’s about time we took a different approach to getting rid of the debts.
The world is run by everyone, not just Governments and corporations. But the outcome depends on the level of courtesy and morality. Not wants and needs. If everyone realsied that you had to sacrifice what you have to progress in life or to achieve goals for the better, then the world would be a much better place. And all this anti-capitalism protest? What else do you want? Communism? Free market? Get everything for free? That’s not how the world rolls on itself.
Patrick Fairfax was right to say solving the economy isn’t through peace as it’s just a goal. It’s a goal that’s part of a formula of all sorts to solve problems. Peace alone would not suddenly get everyone a job or career. Banks and corporations do not control people’s lives. You don’t see HSBC telling you what to buy and eat on a daily basis. They’re just in your everyday lives, and if you can live like any normal person - wake up, commute, earn money, get it taxed, spend the rest, sleep - then you’ll have no problem with any Government or bank whatsoever. You can’t get everything your way. That’s life, deal with it.
